Well it's about time I got round to blogging. I have been working quite a bit over the last week and today I thought I'd treat myself to a day of moderate spending and travelling, within the framework of usefulness. That is to say I went to find out how long it will take Rosie to drive from Exeter to Totnes. The answer, unless she stops off for a toilet break (it could happen you know) is 45 minutes door to door (based on matching, but not exceeding speed limits). Totnes was very busy even though it was raining. There are quite a few shops. The main street is on a steep hill which is quite good. I bought a chicken curry pie, which had less curry in it than my mum's chicken casserole. It was very nice though. After Totnes, I went to Plymouth to look round. They're carrying out a very, very, very similar re-development scheme on parts of Plymouth city centre to the one in Exeter. Didn't do much in Plymouth. I was happy to find it takes only 45-50 minutes to drive back from Plymouth to Exeter, so working in Plymouth is probably no problem if I live in Exeter, so long as the traffic leaving the cities is ok. This evening I'm going for a walk to the quay with Mike and Sarah. We did that on Thursday too. And they did it yesterday evening. I'm still no clearer on what sort of job I want. I've only got one day of work lined up this week and that's Wednesday in South Zeal again. But it's going to be a busy week with Rosie's parents down, graduation and cleaning up the house in preparation to everyone leaving (except probably me).
Just as a matter of interest for those of you who can picture this, but didn't see today's Express and Echo, a middle-aged female learner driver drove herself and her husband through a blue barrier at the Exe bridges and crashed into a subway, landing on the car's nose. Everyone is ok. Apparently, according to a local butcher, it's all the council's fault! It's so obvious when you think about it. They should have installed a huge barrier to stop people driving into the side of subways. In fact, surely, shouldn't they spend about £65 billion on putting barriers alongside all of Exeter's roads. If I end up driving into a subway I'm going to feel pretty stupid now.
