Today I had 4 lectures. The first was French Sociolinguistics at 10am. It was a little hard to concentrate on. I've been doing a lot of sociolinguistics this week. Probably about 5 hours so far. On Friday, I'm one of 5 or so students on the panel supposedly giving answers to questions on fascinations such as the omission of 'ne'.
Spent an hour in the library writing up the Russian precis for this afternoon.
Next up was good ol' Russian oral. We went through a sheet about the NHS and how it deals or rather how it doesn't deal with uninsured tourists or illegal immigrants.
Following that was Russian translation (English - Russian). That dragged on a bit, but was generally ok. This coming week's text looks much more interesting. It's a story, or part of a story, rather than a report about Silvio Berlesconi's visit to Russia.
To end the day, or at the least the part of the day on campus, was Russian precis, where we get given a weekly text to summarise in a certain amount of words. My tried and tested method of simply crossing out the duller sentences in a text seems to be working.
Came home and did last night's washing up. There was quite a bit. We don't normally leave it - it's just that there was no time at all last night.
Gavin is installed back in Fittleworth. Haven't heard from him since the night he got back, but I expect he's busy looking for a source of money and somewhere to put his many, many videos and random other things. Such as a fridge freezer.
