Had to get up early today. It was the CU beach trip. We were meant to meet at the station at 10am, but that was a little early for my liking, and I knew that was just tactics to get the Freshers there for 10.20 anyway. Rosie randomly called (I think for the first time ever!), and we walked to the station together, as Mike and Pete had already left.

There was a huge queue at the station, which we could see from the hill, several hundred people. So we went to another station. The train company always obligingly delay the train every year and bolt two more carriages on the back. We got there no problem, although it was cold and windy. In my first and second years, it was really hot and sunny.

We all hung around on the beach for a bit, then lots of people went off and did their own thing. Some mad people went into the sea, but Rosie and I went off for lunch as we were peckish. We went to a cafe and I had sausage egg and chips, and just for a change, Rosie had an egg mayonnaise sandwich. When we had finished looking round town, we went back to the beach, to find the Freshers had already started the random games/challenges set for them. (The whole purpose is for the Freshers to get to know each other.) At first Rosie was lamenting not having come in her first and second years, and said she felt old. But we met Louisa, who I knew quite well from the first year, and we chatted to her. It got quite cold, so Rosie and I legged it to a cafe for insulation. I had a cream tea with no tea. It was great, loads of jam. About 5 times what you get in those small jam pots in posh cafes.

Got the train back, and I've been doing my washing. It's probably finished now, so I think I'll go and grab it. Bye for now
