Well Thursday wasn't too bad. We had Russian oral at 12, which was fine. We were talking about what we got up to in Russia. After this was Russian translation (Russian-English). This year, instead of lots of random articles we are going to translate a short novel between us. Alastair, the lecturer, said he might try and get it published if it's good.
In the afternoon I had core French stuff. MLF4001a, if you were interested. MLF4001b is next Tuesday, and MLF4001d is next Friday. I asked what had happened to MLF4001c - no one knew, but I was relieved to find it didn't exist.
After this I went home, while Rosie had some maths lectures with the Freshers. When I got in, the urge to make a cake hit me hard. So I went out TO BUY BUTTER, and then whipped up a sponge thing.
Rosie came round for dinner after the lectures. We had pasta and sauce, although it was posh pasta and sauce as Tesco are doing 2 500g jars of Dolmio for £1.14, or £1.12, something like that. And of course we had some of the cake.
In the evening we went to the annual university service at the cathedral. It was all about new starts and building bridges with people. It was a bit cheesy, but the speaker was good. It was Joel Edwards from EA (Evangelical Alliance). My favourite moment, was during a drama. Derek Burnside, one of the leaders at Belmont, read the line 'He's a prophet' with just the same intonation as that comedy show which used to say 'It's a puppettttttt.' During the service, some people built a 3m high bridge to illustrate bridge building, and at the end some people shook hands at the top. One guy got really carried away and kept grabbing the other guys hand and shaking it madly.
Went back to Rosie's for a bit and watched the news. Then came home.
