One thing which has struck me this week is how people treat you differently depending on what clothing your wearing. I have spent all week wearing a tatty pair of blue jeans which keep slipping down almost to disaster point and a white t shirt covered in brown and yellow splodges. Most of the time I've been covered in polyfilla dust too, and paint in my hair. But it has made me popular with the guys in the local shop. "Alright dude?" "How's it going mate?" "Cheers buddy" "See you later my friend" I don't normally reach that level of intimacy with male shopkeepers (or female). People seem to be watching me as I walk along the street. In fact, they are. I don't think it'll cut the mustard at Reuters though. And the smell of old trainers on a hot day is unlikely to swing the job my way. They recommended chinos and an open shirt. I suspect the guys in the newsagents would stop calling me buddy, though.
