Evening. I'm home now. The garage decided there was nothing broken on the car, it is just worn from all the miles, which is a bit annoying. I suppose it has been around the world over 4 times now. Not literally, just in terms of distance. To put it in another context, it's travelled from home to the edge of Cheltenham 44,000 times. Actually, about the going round the world thing, that's not such a bad idea for something to do next summer. Maybe I could write a book. Although I don't think many people would be that interested in reading about Tiger Woods driving an old man's car around the world. Actually, thinking about it, it's not that feasible, for a number of reasons. The first being I don't think I could have the car for that long. My mum would miss it after a day or so. The second being I would need to get it serviced at least twice on the journey, one of which would be around India. I wonder if they have Vauxhall garages there. I expect the customer care would be better than over here. I doubt they'd have maxpax machines in the waiting room, that would be a blessing. The third problem would be the fuel costs. It's roughly 10p a mile to run the car, so over roughly 25,000 miles (not allowing for detours) that's going to cost £2,500 in fuel I think. Which by next summer would be enough to replace the Cavalier with an S reg Astra LS with aircon. Mind you, if enough people are interested, I might look into it further. We could split the fuel costs.
Gave the car a wash. Looks a bit shinier now. Haven't washed it for a while, apart from a 2 minute jet-wash.
While I was out, I bought a rail ticket to Enfield for Thursday. If anyone wants to come to Cheltenham to wave me off, I'm leaving at 11.33 in the morning, from platform 1 no doubt. If there are any jokers out there who fancy nicking my seat, its Coach B 19A. There were some nuns in the car-park in a Nissan Micra, which reminded me of Paul's school.
