Well, today has been a bit of a here there and everywhere kind of a day. It started at 5.10 when I was awoken to check I'd remembered I was getting up to leave at 6. How anyone could forget they were leaving home at 6 is quite beyond me. It would take years of experience for that to become something routine for me I feel.
I was all showered and the car was all warmed up and ready to go way early, something like 5.45pm. We shot off, well, cruised off, at about five to. I think the thermostat is starting to die, as it's not warming up as quickly as it should, but hey, it's great driving a car knowing you have about 0% of it getting anything above about 92 degrees. Birmingham airport looked ok, as far as airports in the dark do. I had thought of going into Birmingham after I'd dropped them off, but as it was still only about 7.15 when I dropped them it seemed a bit pointless. I did stop off at Worcester for breakfast though. I went to MacDonalds, shock horror, and had a double sausage and egg muffin thing which came with a hash brown, which remained in its paper bag, as it looked like a carpet sample from Rosie's house in Exeter.
By this time it was pretty much light. Which was a bit of a relief in some ways, but definitely took the sense of occasion away. I decided to head home after this, so I did. I watched a very early video of Last of the Summer Wine. It was quite revealing. The later episodes were much better I thought (I'm not saying they were that great though)
Went into Cheltenham. Looked around the shops for presents. Didn't find any. Saw Becky Ralph from my A level Russian class. Chatted to her for a few minutes. She says no-one can find a job. Doesn't bode well, especially as most of my year got a 2.1.
I went to Gloucester for a change of scenery. As I parked on the roof of a concrete tower block, I noticed that the temperature in Gloucester was a good 2 or 3 degrees more than in Cheltenham. What does that mean, eh? Should have brought some desert boots, that what it means.
All I bought was a card for Rosie. Not great for a day's shopping.
This evening I'm going to Bish and Emma's, and maybe going for a drink with Bish. I will be meeting young Nicholas for the first time. He's about 2 and a half months old.
